18 February 2011 [13:57] - TODAY.AZ
Issues of political and economic Azerbaijani-Moroccan cooperation will be discussed by Moroccan Foreign Minister Taib Fassi Fihri during an official visit to Baku, the country’s ambassador to Azerbaijan Hassan Hami told journalists on Friday.

During the visit, scheduled for May or June 2011, a meeting of the intergovernmental commission will be held, which will be led by Foreign Minister from the Moroccan side, the diplomat said.

Moroccan ambassador expressed concern about the low level of trade turnover between the two countries. According to Hami, at present, draft agreements are being prepared in the economic spheres, which are designed to contribute to the development of commercial Azerbaijani-Moroccan relations. In particular, work is underway on the draft agreements in the sphere of transport, on the avoidance of double taxation, promotion and protection of mutual investments.

Morocco is also interested in developing cooperation with Azerbaijan in the energy sector, tourism, education and other spheres.

Hami said that it is planned to organize mutual visits of heads of various ministries and departments in order to develop relations. The Moroccan Justice Minister will visit Azerbaijan in the near future. In turn, Azerbaijani Minister of Youth and Sports will visit Rabat.
