
The court dismissed the petition of the chairman of the Azerbaijani Islamic Party Movsum Samedov to change a measure of restraint in the form of a house arrest.
Today, the Nizami district court, chaired by Elman Akhmedov, considered Samedov's appeal, lawyer Anar Gasimov told Trend.
However, the court did not grant the appeal and upheld the arrest decision. Samedov is accused of the violent seizure of power and the illegal purchase of firearms, as well as other crimes.
A preventive measure in the form of an arrest for three months was made this week in respect to Chairman of the illegal Islamic Party of Azerbaijan Movsum Samedov on Jan.20. A criminal case was filed. The investigation is underway. The Chairman of the Islamic Party was detained on January 7.
