"Concerns over possible terror threat in Azerbaijan are groundless"

15 February 2011 [11:05] - TODAY.AZ
Azerbaijan's law-enforcement agencies state that concerns over possible terrorism threats in the country are groundless.
"Azerbaijan is one of the countries where the stability is ensured. It is not only the opinion of citizens of Azerbaijan, but the opinion of the diplomatic missions and foreign investors. But no country, even a superpower, is not immune to terror," head of the Interior Ministry's press service Sadig Gozalov told Trend.

According to him, the protection of embassies and diplomatic missions in the country is carried out at a proper level.

Ministry spokesman said that the criminal situation in the country is under control.
Head of the Ministry's centre for public relations Arif Babayev told Trend that all necessary measures are taken to prevent possible threats to national security and interests of Azerbaijan.

Babayev said that the relevant authorities of Azerbaijan, including the Ministry of National Security of the Republic, control the operational situation.

The United States Department for Foreign Affairs, foreign ministries of Great Britain and Israel in the appeals addressed to their citizens called upon them to be cautious in public places in Azerbaijan and demonstrate vigilance with their personal safety.
