Police officer knife stabbed in Azerbaijan's capital

The officer of Quick Police Regiment of the Interior Ministry has been knifed, deputy chief of the Ministry’s press service Ehsan Zahidov said.

The incident was recorded on January 21 in front of the Academy of National Sciences. An unknown person threatened one woman, took her bag and run away. Officer of Quick Police Regiment‘s 6th patrol force Intigam Umudov went after the burglar, and was able to catch him. The burglar, reportedly, put up a fight against the officer, and managed to stab him with a knife. After that, another police officer Vugar Bayramov was able to detain the burglar.

Later, the burglar's identity was established, it was a 29 year old Beylagan resident Teshkilar Mammadov. He has been handed over for investigation.

The wounded police officer was hospitalized. His condition is satisfactory.
