Kuwait commemorated victims of the bloody tragedy that was committed on Jan. 20, 1990, in Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijani Embassy in Kuwait said.
The event, organized by the embassy in connection with the tragedy anniversary, was attended by Azerbaijanis living in Kuwait, as well as prominent social and political figures of the country and representatives of influential media outlets.
Addressing the meeting, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Kuwait Tural Rzayev spoke about the horrors of that bloody night, telling about the fact that Soviet troops' target was the civilian people. Armored vehicles and tanks even crushed ambulances.

He emphasized national leader Heydar Aliyev's role in giving political and legal assessment of the 20 January tragedy. Aliyev, at a news conference in the Azerbaijani Permanent Representation in Moscow, conveyed all the anger and outrage of the Azerbaijani people to the world.
A magazine titled, "Jan. 20, 1990 - Bloody January Tragedy in Azerbaijan," published in Arabic at the initiative and support of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Kuwait, was presented at the event, and a documentary film in Arabic on the 20 January tragedy was demonstrated.
