Azerbaijani ambassador meets Austrian President and Foreign Minister

A New Year reception for diplomatic corps accredited to Austria was held at the Hofburg Palace, which serves as the official residence of Austrian President, Azerbaijan`s embassy in Vienna said.

The annual New Year reception, which gathered ambassadors from over 120 countries, was addressed by President Heinz Fischer. The President touched upon major directions of Austria`s foreign policy.

Following an official part, Azeri ambassador Fuad Ismayilov had a brief conversation with President Heinz Fischer and Foreign Minister Michael Spindelegger. Opening of an Austrian embassy in Baku, dynamic development of Austria-Azerbaijan ties was underlined during the conversation.

The parties underscored the need for more high-level reciprocal visits and intensification of cooperation between the two countries this year.
