"Some opposition parties' establishing "public chamber" will not affect processes in Azerbaijan"

30 December 2010 [11:15] - TODAY.AZ
Some opposition parties' establishing a new structure called "public chamber" will not affect the socio-political processes in Azerbaijan and the country's development, the vice speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament Bahar Muradova said in an interview with the website of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party (NAP).

"The new organization is part of their petty activities, and therefore, it does not need to attach any importance to it," Muradova said.

A public chamber has been established at the third forum of Azerbaijani opposition on Dec. 28. Declaration on the establishment of the public chamber was signed by Musavat Party, Azerbaijan National Independence Party, Popular Front Party, the Classic Popular Front Party, People's Party, as well as representative of NGOs.

The goals of the public chamber include: conducting research in the strategic development of Azerbaijani society and state, preparing and submitting for discussion the projects (including bills), programs, concepts, doctrine, sending requests to government authorities, ensuring civil movement for democracy to bring together all the best representatives of the Azerbaijani society, regardless of their political affiliation.

According to Muradova, all the same old persons have gathered in the new union of opposition. "This indicates that the name has changed, but the essence of the opposition has not changed. Therefore, it is silly to assume the realization of any union. It is clear that this union has no future," said Muradova.

According to her, the Azerbaijan public well knows those who belong to this opposition.
