Azerbaijani President opens tunnels and pedestrian underpasses in Baku

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev inaugurated newly constructed and overhauled tunnels and pedestrian underpasses in the capital on December 29.
The Head of State first opened a road junction and a tunnel on the intersection of the Fatali Khan Khoysky Avenue and Koroghlu Rahimov Street. Transport Minister Ziya Mammadov told the President of the road`s technical features. The tunnel will help reduce traffic and ensure the safety of pedestrians on the intersection of the Fatali Khan Khoysky Avenue and Koroghlu Rahimov Street. The President viewed photographs highlighting the previous and current look of the site.

Aliyev cut the ribbon symbolizing the official opening of the facility. The Head of State praised the construction of the road junction and tunnel, and gave his recommendations. The President then proceeded to the crossroads of the Koroghlu Rahimov and Tabriz streets where he inaugurated a tunnel. President Ilham Aliyev viewed photos of the site before the construction of the tunnel.

The Head of State also viewed a diagram of a new road meant to reduce traffic between the Heydar Aliyev Avenue, Koroghlu Rahimov Street and Khatai Avenue.

President Aliyev also opened several tunnels on the intersection of the Yusif Safarov and Mehdi Mehdizade streets in the capital`s Khatai district. Transport minister Ziya Mammadov informed the Head of State of the technical specifications of the facilities.

The President congratulated the constructors who were involved in the construction work here. President Ilham Aliyev then inaugurated a pedestrian underpass on the Neftchilar Avenue. The transport minister told the President the construction of the facility began this February.

The Head of State also viewed an overhauled pedestrian underpass on the crossroads of the Bul-Bul Avenue and 28th of May Street. The President praised the look of the facility. Aliyev also opened a pedestrian underpass on the intersection of the Mikayil Mushfig Street and Parliament Avenue.
