Azerbaijani Pardon Commission presents pardoning list to Ilham Aliyev

The Pardon Commission under the Azerbaijani President held a meeting on Monday and reviewed the list of persons requesting a pardon. The Commission presented the list for the president's consideration, Commission member Elmira Akhundova told Trend on Tuesday.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev is expected to pardon the detained in connection with the December 31 - Day of Solidarity of World Azerbaijanis and New Year.

Some 300 people were included in the list. According to 47 pardon orders, signed since 1994, 5,029 people were freed from punishment. 15 of them were signed by Ilham Aliyev and 32 by the late President Heydar Aliyev. 8 acts of amnesty, signed until now, covered 40,000 prisoners.
