President Ilham Aliyev attends 11th Summit of Economic Cooperation Organization in Istanbul - UPDATE - PHOTOS

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has completed his visit to Turkey, after taking part in the 11th Summit of Economic Cooperation Organization. At the Istanbul's Ataturk International Airport, the Head of State was seen off by Turkish high-ranking state and goverment officials.

The same day, President Ilham Aliyev returned home. At the Heydar Aliyev International Airport, the Head of State was welcomed by Prime Minister Artur Rasizade, Chief of the Presidential Administration Ramiz Mehdiyev and Baku Mayor Hajibala Abutalybov.

On December 23, President of Turkey Abdullah Gul hosted a dinner in honor of Heads of state and government, who attended the 11th Summit of Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) at the Ciragan palace in Istanbul.

Azerbaijan`s President Ilham Aliyev attended the event.

The 11th Summit of Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) has today started in Chiragan Palace here. President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev is attending the summit.

Turkish President Abdullah Gul welcomed heads of states and governments participating in the event. The summit was opened by Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who chaired the 10th ECO summit held in March, 2009 in Tehran.

Turkey took over the ECO chairmanship from Iran. Turkish President Abdulah Gul addressed the summit. Azerbaijani leader Ilham Aliyev made a speech at the summit.

Economic Cooperation Organization is an intergovernmental regional organization established in 1985 by Iran, Pakistan and Turkey for the purpose of promoting economic, technical and cultural cooperation among the member states.

In the fall of 1992, the ECO expanded to include seven new members, namely Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. Baku hosted the organization`s 9th summit in May, 2006.

The organization got a status of observation in UN in 1993 and in Organization of the Islamic Conference in 1994.

On December 22, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan hosted a reception in honor of Heads of state and government, who attended the 11th Summit of Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) at the Dolmabahce palace in istanbul.

Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev attended the event.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Istanbul. They said friendly relations based on strategic partnership between the two countries were successfully developing. They expressed confidence Azerbaijan-Turkey relations would further expand.

President Ilham Aliyev and Turkish Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan exchanged views on prospects for cooperation between the countries in various fields, in particular political and economic ones.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met Turkish counterpart Abdullah Gul in Istanbul. The Presidents expressed satisfaction with development of friendly and fraternal relations between the countries in various spheres.

They stressed prospects for expanding energy cooperation. The Heads of the State also discussed settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan met with the President of transition period of Kyrgyzstan Roza Otunbayeva in Istanbul`s Chiragan Palace on December 22.

In the meeting, the two Presidents discussed current state of and prospects for bilateral relations in numerous spheres.

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev today arrived in the Republic of Turkey to attend the Economic Cooperation Organization`s XI Summit.

In Istanbul`s Ataturk International Airport the head of the Azerbaijan State was welcomed by state and government officials of Turkey.
