Strong wind inflicts serious damage to Azerbaijan's southern region

Strong wind started to blow in Azerbaijan’s south region from about 23.00, yesterday, Lankaran Hydrometeorological Department of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources said.

Wind speed in Lankaran, Astara, Bilasuvar regions was 17 meters, and more than 20 meter in Lerik, Yardimli. Roofs of the most houses crashed down in the region, numerous electric lines turned over, electrical conductors were broken as a result of the wind. Except region centers, electric energy and telephone communication were broken down in most villages.

Strong wind caused fire in Talish forests in Bilasar village of Lankaran region. It is reported that the fire covered 6 hectare area. Currently, measures are taken in the direction of prevention of the fire and elimination of results inflicted by the wind.
