Batumi commemorates Heydar Aliyev

Batumi held an event dedicated to the anniversary of Azerbaijani national leader Heydar Aliyev's death. The event was organized by the Azerbaijani Consulate General in Adjara, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said.

The event was attended by Consul General Huseyin Najafov, Adjaran Finance and Economy Minister Gia Bolkvadze, head of the Adjaran Administration Zurab Beridze, representatives of the Azerbaijani community in Adjara and the Georgian intelligentsia.

Addressing the meeting, Najafov spoke about Aliyev's life and his tremendous role in the development of modern Azerbaijan and Georgian-Azerbaijani relations.

In turn, Beridze noted Aliyev's outstanding role in developing and deepening Georgian-Azerbaijani relations and establishing the political architecture of the South Caucasus.

Participants commemorated Aliyev's memory with a moment of silence.
