Azerbaijani national leader Heydar Aliyev's memory honored abroad

The 7th anniversary of the death of the architect and founder of the independent Azerbaijan, national leader Heydar Aliyev has been marked by the country's embassies across the world.

At a commemorative ceremony in Berlin, Azerbaijan`s ambassador Parviz Shahbazov highlighted the national leader`s role in founding the independent state of Azerbaijan.

In Ankara, the embassy-organized commemorative event was attended by Turkish state and government officials, including Taner Yildiz, minister of energy and natural resources, politicians, scientists, Azerbaijani diaspora members and representatives of foreign diplomatic missions in the Turkish capital.

Azeri ambassador Faig Baghirov, chairman of the presidium of the Bilkent Uiversity Ali Dogramaci and Turkey`s 9th president Suleyman Demirel praised the national leader`s role in strengthening and deepening the relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey. Members of the Azerbaijani diaspora, Azeri students and cadets at military universities visited the national leader`s monument near the Heydar Aliyev park in Yenimahalle.

In Ashgabat, ambassador Vahdat Sultan-zadeh told a commemorative ceremony of the national leader`s services to the people of Azerbaijan. The ceremony featured the launch of a Turkmen version of the “Heydar Aliyev” book.

In Abu-Dhabi, a commemorative event was attended by embassy staffers and employees of the representations of the Azerbaijani state oil firm (SOCAR), the International Bank of Azerbaijan and Azerbaijan Arlines. Ambassador Elkhan Gahramanov praised the national leader`s role in building independent Azerbaijan and his contribution to developing the Azerbaijan-UAE relations.

In Belgrade, the national leader`s memory was honored at a commemorative event which brought together representatives of the Muslim community in Serbia, members of the Serbia-Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce and Economy and the Azerbaijan Culture Center, and Azeri students.

Ambassador Eldar Hasanov highlighted the national leader`s role in strengthening Azerbaijan`s independence and building the democratic, constitutional and secular state.

In Riyadh, speakers at a commemorative event stressed the importance of studying national leader Heydar Aliyev`s political heritage. They also praised President Ilham Aliyev`s domestic and foreign policy, describing him as “a worthy successor of the national leader”.

In Bucharest, a commemorative ceremony took place in the Heydar Aliyev Alley. The event was attended by representatives of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation`s Romania office, Romania-Azerbaijan Friendship Society, Romania-Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Romania-Azerbaijan Culture and Youth Association, SOCAR`s Romania office, Paul Polydor Foundation and Azeri students. The participants placed flowers at a bust to the national leader.

The commemorative ceremony continued at the Heydar Aliyev Foundation`s Romania office, and featured a photo exhibition and a documentary about the national leader.
