
The issue on parliamentary elections held in Azerbaijan has been included in the agenda of January session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) and its Monitoring Committee (MC), Chairman of the Parliament’s Committee on International Affairs and Inter-parliamentary Relations Samad Seyidov, who had attended the PACE MC sitting, said.
He said that it was the last sitting held on the eve of Monitoring Committee’s winter session.
According to him, reforms in the Council of Europe were in the focus of attention at the sitting and the Monitoring Committee, other organizations and the Committee of Ministers set out their positions in this respect: “Wide and comprehensive discussions in this regard are held in the Monitoring Committee and in the ad-hoc committee established on reforms in the Council of Europe. Wider exchange of views on this issue will be carried out in the January session. Main directions were determined in the Monitoring Committee’s sitting”.
According to Samadov, the issues concerning various countries were discussed at the sitting. “Elections and post-election situation in Moldova were seriously discussed at the sitting. A new rapparteur on Armenia was elected and discussions were held concerning Georgia and other countries”.
