Azerbaijani official: Opponents of Turkish-Azerbaijani brotherhood behind negative publicity

The activities of Turkish and Azerbaijani national leaders Ataturk and Heydar Aliyev should not be discussed in a negative light by the media, Azerbaijani Presidential Administration Social and Political Department head Ali Hasanov said, with reference to former Turkish diplomat Turgut Er's book.

According to the official, the opponents of Turkish-Azerbaijani brotherhood are behind the activities of individuals like Er.

Some extracts from the book, "From Freedom to Tyranny," by Turgut Er, a former Turkish diplomat who worked in Azerbaijan, were recently published in the Azadlig newspaper.

"Recently one Azerbaijani magazine tried to disseminate material about Ataturk," he said. "We immediately intervened and withdrew this edition from sale."
