Ambassador: Iranian president's Baku visit to give new impetus to development of relations with Azerbaijan

24 November 2010 [18:47] - TODAY.AZ
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's visit to Azerbaijan was an important event in relations between the two countries, Iranian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mohammad Bagir Behrami said at the news conference today. "This visit will give new impetus to the Azerbaijan-Iran  relations," he said.

President Ahmadinejad paid an official visit to Azerbaijan on Nov-17. During the meetings, the two presidents noted that there are no barriers in the development of the Azerbaijan-Iran relations and that Azerbaijan and Iran are not neighbors, but brothers, Behrami said.

The Caspian summit worked well, he said. "The summit proved that the littoral states can solve their problems themselves, and there is no need for other countries' intervention," Bahrami said. "The Caspian states' leaders show the world their foresight, although, prior to the Baku summit, the Western media expressed doubts over the successful result of the summit."
