Romania declares Azerbaijani president "Person of Year"

The Bucharest-based “Balcanii şi Europa” (Balkans and Europe) magazine named President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev “Person of the Year” for his political, economic, scientific, cultural and humanitarian accomplishments and contributions to Romania-Azerbaijan relations.

The jury including economic, political, cultural experts as well as representatives of media and NGOs also took into account signing of the AGRI project (Azerbaijan-Georgia-Romania interconnector), which will help solve Europe`s energy problems.

Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Romania Eldar Hasanov addressed the awarding ceremony, which was covered by European media.

The awards are presented annually in the politics, economics, justice, human rights, culture nominations. To date, the magazine has awarded heads of states and governments from South-East European countries and politicians.
