Azerbaijani diplomat: Progress in resolving Nagorno-Karabakh conflict depends on Armenia

24 November 2010 [12:05] - TODAY.AZ
The possibility of achieving some progress in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict at the upcoming OSCE summit depends on Armenia, head of the Azerbaijani Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Samad Seyidov said.

"Azerbaijan's position on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is known to the entire international community," he said. "Now the question is Armenia's readiness to make concrete steps toward resolving this conflict."

The OSCE summit will be held in Astana on Dec. 1-2 and will bring together presidents and prime ministers from 56 OSCE member countries and 12 OSCE partner countries, as well as the heads of 68 international organizations.

The summit has been held six times since the organization's inception in 1975. The last was held in Istanbul in 1999.

Azerbaijan has repeatedly stated that its stands for a peaceful resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict under international law while observing territorial integrity, Seyidov said.

Armenia's position is far from constructive, he said.
