Presidents of Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan meet in Baku

On Nobember 18, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met with President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhammedow who is here to attend a summit of the Heads of Caspian littoral states.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev noted the summit would provide a forum for discussing bilateral and regional issues. Aliyev expressed his satisfaction with development of bilateral ties, which, according to him, are based on friendship and fraternity. He expressed confidence that cooperation between the two countries would expand even more in the future.

The Azerbaijani leader noted both countries, which have strong economies, are developing successfully.

For his part, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhammedow underlined both countries share the same stance within international organizations including the United Nations.
He said there are good prospects for development of trade relations.

Berdumuhammedow noted a meeting of the intergovernmental commission will be held in Turkmenistan. The Turkmen President congratulated the people of Azerbaijan on the Gurban Bayram.

The same day, President of Turkmenistan ended his visit to Azerbaijan. A ceremonial guard of honor was lined up for the Turkmen President at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow was seen off by First Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Yagub Eyyubov and other officials.
