Azerbaijani FM meets Iraqi Trade Minister

Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov met Iraqi Minister of Trade Safa Al-Din Muhammad Al-Safi in Baku on Novemmber 11.
Mammadyarov stressed this visit would contribute to expanding relations between Azerbaijan and Iraq.

Azerbaijan is interested in boosting cooperation in not only oil sector, but also in the non-energy sector with Iraq.

The Iraqi Minister expressed his satisfaction with Baku meetings.

Al-Safi said “Iraq has always supported Azerbaijan's fair position on the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict”.

He expressed confidence the agreements signed on economic, trade and scientific cooperation would contribute to developing relations between the two countries.

“Establishment of the working council between the two countries' businessmen will help to expand trade relations”.

Al-Safi also wished that Iraqi young diplomats could join training courses of the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy, saying opening of Azerbaijan's embassy in his country would help realize such plans.

Mammadyarov informed the Iraqi Minister about the Milli Majlis decision to open the country's embassy in Iraq.

They also discussed regional issues.
