"International organizations lack proper assessment of terror activities against Azerbaijan and Turkey"

03 November 2010 [16:20] - TODAY.AZ
Azerbaijani Defense Minister Safar Abiyev  expressed regret over the fact that several international structures have not given due assessment to the terrorist activities directed against Azerbaijani and Turkish peoples.

"Azerbaijan and Turkey supported each other and were together during the ordeals throughout the history. We especially feel it in the initial period of occupation of the Azerbaijani lands by Armenia. Unfortunately, the terrorist activities directed against the Azerbaijani and Turkish peoples have not given due assessment by a number of international structures," Abiyev said during the meeting with Turkish Defense Minister Vecdi Gonul, the defense ministry reported.

Gonul launched his official visit to Azerbaijan on Tuesday. Abiyev said Azerbaijan is continuing the process of a peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. However, the country will use alternative methods for deoccupation of its lands in case of the failure of the talks.

Abiyev also noted the high level of development of the Azerbaijani-Turkish relations in the military, military-technical and military education spheres. In turn, Gonul stressed that these relations will develop.
