Azerbaijani CEC: Newspapers engaged in obtrusive propaganda for some candidates must be punished

01 November 2010 [19:15] - TODAY.AZ
The newspapers, dealing with obtrusive propaganda of some candidates, must be punished, CEC chairman Mazahir Panahov said.
He said that some newspapers, not being party publications, place interviews with some or other candidates for MPs in each edition. If any newspaper publishes materials of a candidate, the conditions must be created to promote other candidates too, Panahov said.

A decision was made to solve this issue by the CEC press group. Parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan are scheduled for November 7, 2010. Previous parliamentary elections were held in November 2005. Parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan are held by the majority system in 125 constituencies.
