Azerbaijani envoy to Kazakhstan meets with chairman of Senate of Parliament

Azerbaijani ambassador to Kazakhstan Zakir Hashimov has met with chairman of the Kazakh Senate Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev.
Tokayev congratulated the Azerbaijani envoy on the beginning of his diplomatic mission in Kazakhstan. He praised bilateral relations between the two countries.

Tokayev also hailed Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan cooperation within international organizations, including CIS, Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking countries and TURKSOY.

The chairman expressed confidence for further strengthening of cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries.

Zakir Hashimov, in turn, hailed relations between the two countries, saying “Azerbaijan`s national leader Heydar Aliyev and Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev played a key role in establishment of these ties”, adding the relations are being successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev and his Kazakh counterpart.

The ambassador informed the Kazakh official on the upcoming parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan.

He also stressed the role of the TURKSOY in expansion of cultural relations.

Hashimov has also expressed confidence that important steps would be taken during the OSCE Astana summit to settle the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh.
