All the problems related with issuing visas for international observers, whose arrival was planned beforehand, including foreign media representatives and parliamentarians from other countries have been solved, Azerbaijani Presidential Administration's Social and Political Department Head Ali Hasanov told journalists.
"Problems with issuing visas for international observers are actually invention of some media representatives," he said.
The parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan are scheduled for November 7, 2010. Parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan are held by the majority system in 125 constituencies once in five years.
Some 581 international election observers have been registered so far. The total number of observers exceeds 25,000 people.
According to Hasanov, new visa procedures have been introduced. "Earlier, citizens of countries, where our embassies and consulates operate, were showing disrespect to them and used to get a visa at the airport," Hasanov said. By the Azerbaijani President's decree, changes have been made to procedures for issuing visas to foreigners and stateless persons entering the country.
According to the decree, foreigners and stateless persons may apply directly to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry to obtain visas in the following cases: in the cases mentioned in the interstate and intergovernmental agreements; when arriving in the country upon the invitation of the Azerbaijani President, Prime Minister, Speaker of Parliament, as well as the head of the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration, Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Supreme Council's Chairman; upon invitation of the Constitutional Court Chairman, Prosecutor General, Ombudsman, the CEC Chairman; in case of arrival in the country of employees of diplomatic missions and consulates of foreign countries, international organizations, individuals, who are members of the delegation of administrative and technical services, their family members, as well as foreigners visiting the country as part of diplomatic missions; in case of arrival to eliminate consequences of emergency situations upon the Azerbaijani Emergency Situations Ministry's official request, in case of death of a family member living in Azerbaijan.
