Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev arrived in Ukraine for a working visit on Wednesday, October 27.

Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev ended his official visit to Ukraine on Thursday. At the “Borispol” International Airport, the President was seen off by high-ranking Ukrainian officials.
Later the same day, the Head of State returned back to Azerbaijan. At the Heydar Aliyev International Airport, the President was welcomed by Prime Minister Artur Rasizadeh, head of the Presidential Administration Ramiz Mehdiyev and Baku Mayor Hajibala Abutalybov.

President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych hosted an official lunch in honor of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in Kiev on Thursday.
Speaking at the event, President Viktor Yanukovych said the foundation of fruitful cooperation between the two countries was laid by national leader Heydar Aliyev. He pointed out this course is successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev. Yanukovych underlined every step towards development of cooperaton serve prosperity of both peoples.
In his turn, President Ilham Aliyev said the present visit would remain one of the most important steps to develop cooperation in the history of bilateral relations. The Head of State expressed satisfaction with the discussions held.

Following a one-on-one meeting of Presidents Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan and Viktor Yanukovych of Ukraine, a meeting of the Council of both countries' Presidents took place with attendance of both delegations. Ukrainian President Yanukovych said a joint working group and interstate commission have worked on many issues.
Yanukovych stressed Azerbaijan occupies a very serious position in the Caspian region and Asia. He said Ukraine considers Azerbaijan as a close partner and friend. According to him, bilateral relations between the two nations have always been stable and sincere.
President Ilham Aliyev, for his part, noted there is friendly and brotherly relation between the two peoples.
“We have been partners and friends since regaining our independence,” the President said. He described partnership between the countries as “strategic”.
The Azerbaijani leader pointed out there are new ideas and opportunities for expanding energy cooperation. According to him, both countries support each other with respect to regional issues and within international organizations.
“Today, it is impossible to imagine regional cooperation in the Caspian and Black Sea regions without Azerbaijan's and Ukraine's special role,” President Ilham Aliyev noted.

Presidents Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan and Viktor Yanukovych of Ukraine gave a joint press conference in Kiev following signing of Azerbaijan-Ukraine documents.
Ukrainian Head of State noted Azerbaijan-Ukraine relations are friendly and fruitful. The Ukrainian leader noted both countries are keen on developing cooperation. According to Yanukovych, the two nations are going to expand ties in the energy sector and set up a working group to this end.
President Yanukovych pointed out trade turnover between the two countries increased in 2010.
President Ilham Aliyev expressed satisfaction with how much strategic Azerbaijan-Ukraine relations have developed, saying there is room for deepening them.
The Head of State underlined both countries play a key role in enhancing not only bilateral cooperation but also regional one.
The Azerbaijani Leader noted both countries are interested in expanding not only fuel-energy complex but also cooperation in the industry as well as humanitarian, trade and other fields.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met with Ukraine's Prime Minister Nikolay Azarov at his temporary residence on Thursday.
The sides expressed satisfaction with the successful development of economic, in particular, energy cooperation between the two countries. Good potential for increasing trade turnover and expanding relations was underlined at the meeting.
The parties shared their ideas on the future steps to boost bilateral cooperation.

The Azerbaijan-Ukraine documents were signed in Kiev on Thursday following the second meeting of the Council of Azerbaijani and Ukrainian Presidents.
Presidents Ilham Aliyev and Viktor Yanukovych signed a joint declaration of Presidents of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Ukraine and Protocol of the second meeting of the Council of Azerbaijani and Ukrainian Presidents.
Foreign Ministers Elmar Mammadyarov and Konstantin Gryshenko signed an agreement on cooperation in archiving between Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and Azerbaijan.

Presidents Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan and Viktory Yanukovych of Ukraine met in private in Kiev on October 28. Discussions at the meeting revolved round successful development of bilateral relations in a variety of fields. President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev noted the present visit and documents to be signed would help expand Azerbaijan-Ukraine relationship.
It was noted there are ample opportunities for development of cooperation in economic and other fields. The Heads of State exchanged their views on bilateral and international issues.
