Azerbaijan's Milli Majlis speaker meets OSCE PA vice-president

Chairman of the Milli Majlis (Azerbaijan Parliament) Ogtay Asadov met with visiting Vice-President of the OSCE PA, head of the pre-election observation mission of the organization Wolfgang Grossruck on October 15. Asadov said Azerbaijan undertook important steps towards nation and democracy building after restoration its independence.

He stressed Euro-Atlantic integration is one of priorities of the Azerbaijan's foreign policy.
He underlined “today we are cooperating with all international organizations, including OSCE and its Parliamentary Assembly.”

“Transparent and free elections are the main conditions for the democratic nation building”, he added.

Asadov stressed Azerbaijani government has created good environment for holding democratic, transparent and free parliamentary elections next month, adding “we want international observers to be objective”.

Grossruck expressed confidence that upcoming parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan would be transparent, free and democratic. The meeting also discussed issues of mutual interest concerning the run-up to the elections and activity of international and local observers.
