PACE observers not to prepare interim report about parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan

15 October 2010 [12:38] - TODAY.AZ
A five-member pre-election mission of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) will visit Baku on October 19-21, said Special Representative of the Council of Europe Secretary General in Azerbaijan Veronika Kotek.

PACE will send 30-member observation mission to Azerbaijan for monitoring of the voting process. They will arrive in Azerbaijan few days before the elections and hold meetings in the same format and to observe the voting process in Baku and the regions. Next day they will hold a press conference to announce results of the international observation.

Kotek said PACE observers wouldn’t prepare interim report. “The pre-election mission will hold a press conference only”.

“Only the Parliamentary Assembly has a right of observation of the elections in the Council of Europe and therefore we have to wait for the results of their observation”, said Ms. Kotek answering the question about her assessment of the election campaign.
