14 October 2010 [09:10] - TODAY.AZ
Head of the Caucasian Muslims' Office Sheikhulislam Allahshukur Pashazade met Chief of National Conference on Soviet Jewry (NCSJ) Richard Stone on October 13.

Pashazade said people of different faiths live peacefully in Azerbaijan. He added there was great attention and care for the Jewish community in the country.

The Sheikhulislam underlined the role of national leader Heydar Aliyev in the fact that the whole world recognizes Azerbaijan as a tolerant state. President Ilham Aliyev successfully continues the national leader's policy, he added.

Pashazade said Azerbaijan was developing dynamically, and plays great role in development of the region. “But the fact that Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict remains unresolved is an obstacle to the region's security and development,” he underscored.

The Sheikhulislam expressed hope the world community would increase efforts to contribute to settling the problem.

Richard Stone, in turn, spoke of the workings of NCSJ.

He noted Azerbaijan was a rare country for tolerant attitude towards people of all faiths including Jews. “We thank you very much for this.”
