President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attended a ground-breaking ceremony for a new building of the State Oil Company (SOCAR). The Head of State saw video, scheme, layout and model featuring the current state of the building.

SOCAR president Rovnag Abdullayev told President Ilham Aliyev that the new administrative building would meet international standards and all requirements of the company. The 40-storey building will cover 5 hectares. The building will be built by the Turkish Tekfen Construction.

President Ilham Aliyev placed a time capsule into the foundation and covered it with liquid concrete. Aliyev also congratulated the event participants.

"Today the Azerbaijan State Oil Company (SOCAR) enjoys great prestige not only in the region, but also in the whole world," President Ilham Aliyev said at a ground-breaking ceremony for SOCAR`s new building.

The Head of State said Azerbaijan had already started to make investments in foreign countries, adding “this strengthens our position and our role in the region”.

President Ilham Aliyev said Azerbaijan was also attracting foreign investments, noting “the number of companies wishing to work in our country is quite a lot”.

The Head of State expressed hope a very beautiful and magnificent building would be built. It will meet SOCAR`s all needs and beautify the city. According to the Azerbajiani Leader, the first ever such a 40-storey skyscraper in Baku at a height of 200 meters is going to be a gorgeous piece of architecture.
