Prosecutor demands to sentence assistant and aide of former commander of Azerbaijani Air Forces to 17.5 years in prison

The prosecutor demanded to imprison the assistant and aide of the former commander of Air Forces of Azerbaijan. The prosecutor made an indictment speech at the Military Court on Heinous Crimes on Thursday.

Public prosecutor demanded to sentence Aydin Rafiyev, former assistant of the commander of the Air and Air Defence Forces Rail Rzayev, to 10 years of imprisonment, each of aides Anar Hashimov and Anar Rafiyev to 7 years and six month. The process will continue Oct. 13 with protection speech.

The defendants are accused of theft, forced to deviate from the testimony, false testimony or the implementation of misdirection, bribery, abuse of power, abuse of office and upon other articles of the Criminal Code

According to the indictment, soon after Rail Rzayev was assassinated on February 11, general's assistant Aydin Rafiyev and aide Anar Hashimov illegally entered his office, stole great deal of jewelry, medications, DVDs and ˆ200,000 from general's vault. Moreover, Aydin Rafiyev and his son Anar Rafiyev did not return to the ministry Rzayev's winter jacket and the registration number 10 00 HM owned by Defense Ministry given by Bakhtiyar Alasgarov, personal driver of Rail Rzayev, for delivery in March, 2009. They kept them in the Mitsubishi-Pajero owned by Anar Rafiyev by April 26, 2009.

It was also determined that while working as sales manager of Azrol Telekom LLC Anar Rafiyev misappropriated 18 mobile phones worth 11,710 manat.
