Last week the Student council of the Yerevan State University sent a letter of protest to OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Kazakhstan`s Secretary of State and Foreign Minister Kanat Saudabayev, OSCE Secretary General Marc Perrin de Brichambaut and the OSCE`s Yerevan office claiming that Azerbaijan pursues an aggressive policy towards Nagorno-Karabakh and creates obstacles for the establishment of security in the region. The Azerbaijani Students Union (ASU) issued a statement regarding this matter, AzerTAc reports.
The statement says that the lying letter which is addressed to the world community proves incontestability of the role of the Armenian students in pouring oil on the flames and their non-constructive position in this issue.
“The Armenian students allege that Azerbaijan is an occupying country and that the ceasefire on the front line is broken by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces.
Such allegations are baseless. The monitoring conducted on the front line by OSCE revealed that the ceasefire regime was broken by the Armenian troops. The UN and other international organizations have recognized Nagorno-Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan as an undeniable fact. Statements made by the Armenian students are aimed at misleading the world community,” the ASU statement said.
The statement urged severe actions against the spreading of such statements. In order to prevent similar events in the future, the ASU called upon students to combine their efforts to respond to such egregious lies. The statement will be sent to international organizations, Embassies and the OSCE Office in Baku.
Also this statement will be sent to the Student council of the Yerevan State University and different student and youth organizations of Armenia.
