Charge d"affaires of Azerbaijani embassy to Pakistan visits school for girls built in Muzaffarabad

Charge d"affaires of the Azerbaijani Embassy to Pakistan Dashgyn Shikarov visited Secondary School for girls built in Muzaffarabad City of this country at the initiative of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, September 17. A severe quake causing heavy human loss and destructions in Pakistan on October 8, 2005. Covering over half of the territory of the country the quake caused heavy destructions in capital Islamabad, Lahor, in particular the city of Muzaffarabad.

The quake rendered a school in Rara territory of Muzaffarabad quite useless, lessons were held either in tents or outdoor. The school was built on the initiative of Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva, President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO and ISESCO, MP. The School that is attended by over 500 pupils was also supplied with visual aids and publications about Azerbaijan due to support of First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva.

D.Shikarov met with teachers and pupils at the school, was informed of the school's actions and needs. He said the care to the School will be continued. Talking about activities of Heydar Aliyev Foundation and its president Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva, the diplomat noted Azerbaijan is always ready to help the brotherly country.

Expressing satisfaction for conditions created at the School, Principal Firdovs Shahin expressed gratitude to the government and people of Azerbaijan and in particular to Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva. He requested the charge d"affaires to deliver the letter of gratitude to the Azeri First Lady.

D.Shikarov presented the School 2 computers, 50 schoolbags and school supplies on behalf of Heydar Aliyev Foundation. Besides, the Embassy donated to the School`s library books `Heydar Aliyev`, `Azeri poetry`, `Azerbaijan – Paradise of Caucasus` and `History of Azerbaijan` published in Pakistan in Urdu and English.
