The Azerbaijani side has proposed to delay consideration of draft resolution A/64/L.57 on "Observance of international humanitarian law and international human rights law in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan", which is on the agenda of the plenary session of 64-th session, and to postpone consideration of 18th point of the resolution on "Situation at the occupied territories of Azerbaijan" to the agenda of the 65th session, Permanent Representative of Azerbaijan to the UN Agshin Mehdiyev said during his speech at the UN General Assembly on Thursday.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan reported late on Thursday.
Armenian side did not make any statement after the speech of Azerbaijani representative. According to the Foreign Ministry, the decision was based on the position of the OSCE Minsk Group set forth in the statement: "co-chairs will visit the region with a fact finding mission in late September and early October to examine the humanitarian situation in the occupied territories".
The statement also says that it will be the first such mission since the fact finding mission undertaken by the OSCE in 2005.
International mission of co-chairs will include a group of experts and high-level advisers, including representatives of the High Commissioner for Refugees and other UN bodies, the statement said.
The draft resolution was entered in the agenda of the plenary session on the initiative of the Azerbaijani side.
