OECD senior official: Azerbaijan achieved much progress

The guests got familiarized with Azerbaijan's tax system.

Summing up his visit to Azerbaijan, Jeffrey Owens said: “The main goal of our visit is to strengthen cooperation between OECD and Azerbaijan in the field of taxation. Our cooperation is on the high level, however we can develop it. I have heard about Azerbaijan and its capital, though I have never been here. You have made considerable progress in the field of taxation policy. Only 19 years have passed since you achieved independence. And after gaining the independence you have built rather competitive tax system and effective tax administration”.

Dwelling on the fruitful cooperation between OECD and the Ministry of Taxes of Azerbaijan, Jeffrey Owens said: “I think we can develop our cooperation. And Azerbaijan's experience in tax management should be used as a model in CIS region”.
