"The world's attention will be focused on the forthcoming parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan,” Head of OSCE Office in Baku, Ambassador Ali Bilge Cankorel said at the event held at the Azerbaiajn Central Election Commission on the start of the specialized training for the chairmen of district election commissions.

According to him, 450 OSCE observers will trip to Azerbaijan to monitor the parliamentary elections. Prior to it, long-term OSCE observers will arrive in the country.

Noting that the Council of Europe and other organizations would observe the election process as well, rhe ambassador said the European Union would not send observers to Azerbaijan.

Ambassador said sending international observers demonstrates the importance attached to Azerbaijan.

“So many observers are not sent everywhere,” he said.

OSCE's representative noted that awareness raising events would be held in Baku and other central cities in September.

Ambassador added that the procedure of registration of candidates for parliament should be facilitated even more in Azerbaijan. According to him, the number of the documents required for registration should be reduced.

Cankorel said the conditions created for the observers had been improved, but they should be improved more. He also underlined the necessity of facilitating the procedure of considering the complaints.

CEC chairman Mazahir Panahov said they were interested in cooperation with all international organizations, including OSCE. He expressed his gratitude to Ali Bilge Cankorel for active cooperation.
