Portuguese FM: Development of cooperation with Azerbaijan is important for Portugal

"The positions of the two countries coincide on many issues. We intend to further develop our relations," Amado said at a briefing during his visit to Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan is an active member of the EU initiative "Eastern Partnership". Portugal is ready to assist countries in developing relations with the EU, he added.

Portuguese Foreign Minister invited his Azerbaijani counterpart Elmar Mammadyarov to pay an official visit to Lisbon.

During the visit, the sides signed an agreement on ministerial consultations, and initialed the document for visa-free travel of citizens with diplomatic and official passports.
