EU may cancel position of special envoy for South Caucasus

Discussions on this issue are underway, EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus Peter Semneby told journalists in Sukhumi today.

"This is linked with the beginning of a new EU diplomatic service. In any case, I promise that the EU will not leave the South Caucasus without attention," Semneby said.

European Commissioner for Foreign Relations Catherine Ashton announced several weeks ago that this post might be abolished.
