GUAM to discuss military incident on contact line of Azerbaijani and Armenian troops

The issue of security, including discussion of an armed incident on the contact line of the Armenian and Azerbaijani troops, which takes place frequently, will be included in the agenda of the GUAM Council of National Coordinators, which will meet in Kiev in July of 2010, Secretary General of the Organization Valeri Chechelashvili told Trend.

According to the Ministries of Defence of Azerbaijan and Armenia, an armed incident took place on the night of June 18 to 19 that caused losses in the northern part of the contact line in the area of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The incident occurred immediately after the Azerbaijani and Armenian presidents' meeting in St. Petersburg held June 17 on the Russian President's invitation to continue negotiations for a peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

"The Council will discuss many issues of security, including the issue of promotion of our joint resolution within the UN on the frozen conflicts in the GUAM countries", Chechelashvili said.
