“Another military sabotage by Armenia is not a coincidence. Armenia pursues the same policy over and over again. They saw creating tension on the front line as a way out, ” Spokesman for Defense Ministry, Lieutenant-Colonel Eldar Sabiroglu said.
Sabiroglu said Sargsyan seems to be discontent with some points in the St. Petersburg talks and he ordered such a severe clash.
“There is no doubt that the ceasefire violation on June 18 was instructed by Sargsyan. His recent statements also proves that we are not mistaken in our conclusion.”
Sabiroglu says that the recent events show that Armenia is not interested in peaceful solution to Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
"So, Armenia hinders resolution of the conflict in many ways or just tries to remove peace principles from the agenda. In doing so they negate the work of the Minsk Group. Therefore, co-chair countries - the U.S., Russia and France must take more effective measures. Otherwise, a collision on the front lines can result in a new situation in the region, in other words, the start of a new war,” the Defense Ministry Spokesperson said.
“Armenia already paves a way for such conditions. The Armenian armed forces fired at Azerbaijani army 101 times last month only. Of course, our army has given a fitting rebuff to the enemy.”
“There is another interesting point. To create a visibility, Armenia, staying on the sidelines, highlights the Nagorno-Karabakh and the separatist regime there. Thus, Armenia wanst to say that it has nothing to do with what happens. It arises a question: then what do soldiers with Armenian citizenship do in the occupied territories? Most of those whop died and got wounded during a firefight on June 18 are Armenian soldiers - citizens of Armenia. This question has been raised repeatedly to the international organizations,” Sabiroglu said.
