U.S. President congratulates President Ilham Aliyev on Republic Day

U.S. President Barack Obama sent congratulatory message to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on Republic Day, the U.S. Embassy in Azerbaijan reported.

"On behalf of the American people, I congratulate you and the citizens of Azerbaijan as you celebrate the anniversary of your country's independence on May 28," the message says.

"I am proud of the partnership between our countries to fight global threats, bolster regional stability, and address our common security concerns. I look forward to deepening that partnership in the months and years to come as we develop new opportunities to cooperate," Obama said.

The United States values its strong relationship with Azerbaijani government and people, and remains committed to Azerbaijan's sovereignty and development as a prosperous and democratic state, contributing to stability both in its region and globally, the message says.
