Azerbaijani and Belarus parliamentarians to discuss bilateral cooperation in Minsk

Parliamentarians from Belarus and Azerbaijan will discuss issues of bilateral cooperation during the visit of the delegation of the Azeri Parliament (Milli Majlis) to Belarus on May 31 – June 3, CIS and International Relations Parliamentary Commission Head Sergey Maskevich said.

Samad Seyidov, Chairman of the Standing Commission of Milli Majlis on Foreign Affairs and Inter-Parliamentary Relations will lead the Azeri delegation.

During the visit, the Azeri delegation will meet Belarus colleagues Sergey Maskevich and chairpersons of two permanent commissions of the Council of Republic – Nina Mazay and Yevgeniy Smirnov.

"First of all, we are going to discuss the prospects of inter-parliamentary cooperation," Maskevich said, specifying that the agreement on inter-parliamentary cooperation was signed between National Assembly of Belarus and Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan in 2009.

“For us it is important to discuss and scrutinize real documents (within the bounds of the international inter-parliamentary structures) rather than obtain support from Azeri colleagues”, he added.

The delegation of Azerbaijani parliament will also meet representatives of the ministries of justice, foreign affairs of Belarus, Minsk State Linguistic University.
