Azerbaijani deputy speaker meets UNICEF regional director

Alasgarov praised the cooperation between Azerbaijan and UNICEF.

He said state programs had been implemented in Azerbaijan with support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation on protection of rights and interests of children. He added all these programs were implemented under the conditions of Armenia's occupation policy against Azerbaijan.

Attending the meeting Milli Majlis committee chairmen Ali Huseynov and Samad Seyidov spoke of relevant draft laws in the Azerbaijan parliament. For his part, Steven Allen praised the fact that Azerbaijan's parliament improves its legislative basis.

Allen underscored the role of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation's President, UNESCO and ISESCO Goodwill Ambassador, MP Mehriban Aliyeva in carrying out healthcare reforms in the country.
He said UNICEF will take all necessary steps to continue cooperation with Azerbaijan. He also said the fact that global financial crisis had insignificant impact on Azerbaijan's economy was the result of the right policy being pursued in the country.
