Italy is interested in cooperation with Azerbaijan, respects its territorial integrity and supports its fair position, said deputy chairman of the Italian Senate Vannino Chiti at the meeting with Azerbaijan's delegation headed by Parliament Speaker Ogtay Asadov in Rome.
Chiti said Azerbaijan and Italy have mutual “cordial” relationship, which, he stressed, pave the way for understanding, friendship and all-round development of cooperation.
The Azerbaijani delegation also met Ms Rossana Boldi, Chairperson of the European Union Policies Committee of the Senate and head of Italy-Azerbaijan friendship group. The Azerbaijani Speaker said their visit would contribute to further expanding the interparliamentary ties between the two nations.
Asadov praised the activities of the friendship groups in this regard. He stated his country is keen on “close” bilateral cooperation with Italia in all fields. The sides also discussed a variety of issues of mutual interest.
