Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry commented on a statement newly appointed Russian co-chair of OSCE Minsk Igor Popov voiced during his visit to the occupied Azerbaijani territories.
"Azerbaijan has repeatedly stated that at some stage both Armenian and Azerbaijani communities of Nagorno-Karabakh will undoubtedly be involved in the negotiations on settlement of the Karabakh conflict itself, to determine the future status of Nagorno-Karabakh within Azerbaijan's territorial integrity,” Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Elkhan Polukhov said.
News.am reports that new Russian co-chair of OSCE Minsk Group Igor Popov met with the leader of the Karabakh separatists Bako Sahakian on April 29.
After the meeting, Popov stressed that at some stage "Nagorno Karabakh" should take part in the negotiations. The newly appointed co-chairman promised to exert all efforts towards an early settlement of the Karabakh conflict.
