Russian Federation Council Chief meets heads of CIS parliament administrations

Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russian Federation Sergei Mironov has met here chiefs of CIS Parliament administrations.

The meeting was also attended by chief of Azerbaijan Parliament administration Safa Mirzayev, chairman of the Russian Federation Council's committee for CIS affairs Andrei Molchanov, secretary general of the Interparliamentary Assembly Council of CIS Mikhail Krotov and Chief of the Staff of the Council of Federation Vladimir Svinaryov.

Sergei Mironov, who is also the speaker of Russia's upper chamber of parliament and chairman of the CIS Council of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, stressed the importance of organizing “such” meetings in terms of exchange of information, opinion and experience among CIS member countries's relevant structures. He said the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly was interested in boosting cooperation to further carry out integration process in the region.

Mironov said the legislation in post-soviet countries should be coordinated and member-states should use “wide” experience of CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly.

He noted over 250 draft model laws have been adopted by the Assembly, adding “national parliaments are using many of them”.

Mironov expressed assurance that exchange of experience among CIS Parliament administrations is of “great” importance.

He also talked about upcoming 65th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, saying post soviet countries would hold the anniversary events together.

Mironov also invited the officials from CIS countries to attend Baltic forum to be held in Irkutsk in September.
