Azerbaijani exports to Ukraine increased by 4 times

22 April 2010 [16:45] - TODAY.AZ
In January-February 2010, the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Ukraine amounted to $261.6 million, which is four times higher than the same period in 2009, Ukraine's ambassador to Azerbaijan Boris Klimchuk said today at a press conference.

According to him, Azerbaijan's exports to Ukraine in this period amounted to $160 million, which is "significantly exceeds the previous figure".

Growth of Azerbaijan's exports to Ukraine is explained with the start of oil supplies to the Kremenchug oil refinery in the second half of 2009. In 2010, the Ukrtatnafta Company plans to purchase 3 million tons of Azerbaijani oil compared to 600,000 tons in 2009 for further processing at the Kremenchug oil refinery.

"At present, Azerbaijan and Ukraine have many started, but not completed projects," - Klimchuk said.

According to him, Azerbaijani Education Ministry discusses delivery of busses of Bogdan brand from Ukraine.

"We believe that new models of buses [Bogdan], meeting the highest standards, will be able to take a niche in a competitive basis," - he said.
