Azerbaijani Parliament met Indonesian House of Representatives' deputy chairman

Members of Azerbaijan Milli Majlis committee for international relations and inter-parliamentary ties met visiting Indonesian Deputy Chairman of House of Representatives Pramono Anung Vibon on April 21st.

Head of the committee Samad Seyidov briefed Vibon on the international relations of Milli Majlis. He stressed the importance of cooperation between Azerbaijani and Indonesian parliamentarians within international organizations. Seyidov expressed hope the current visit of Indonesian MPs will contribute to expanding relations between the two countries.

Members of the committee Ganira Pashayeva, Gultəkin Hacıbayli and Asim Mollazade spoke of the ongoing reforms in Azerbaijan to protect human rights and freedoms, as well as the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. They thanked the Indonesian government and people for backing Azerbaijan`s position on the issue. They also expressed discontent over the fact than some member states of the Organization of the Islamic Conference cooperate with Armenia.

For his part, Pramono Anung Vibon praised the relationship between Azerbaijan and Indonesia.

"We attach significant importance to developing cooperation with friendly Azerbaijan."
He also pointed out the fact that 20% of Azerbaijan's territories are under Armenian occupation is "unacceptable."

Vibon added, that Indonesia will be committed to its stance on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. “We consider that the dispute must be settled peacefully and on the basis of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity.”

Azerbaijani ambassador to Indonesia Ibrahim Hajıyev was also present at the meeting.
