Ilham Aliyev extends condolences to International Olympic Committee President

On April 21, Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev expressed his condolences to President of the International Olympic Committee, Jacques Rogge, in connection with death of of Honorary President of the International Olympic Committee Juan Antonio Samaranch.

"World's sports community and the international Olympic movement has lost the outstanding leader in Juan Antonio Samaranch. Due to this, I offer my sincere condolences to the activists of International Olympic Committee, members of the family and relatives of the dead," the letter of condolence said.

Ilham Aliyev stressed that he was experiencing a feeling of deep regret at the death of this selfless man who devoted his whole life to the Olympic movement. "One of the best leaders of the Olympic movement, Juan Antonio Samaranch, will always live in the memories of the Azerbaijan's sport community members," said Azerbaijani President.
