A number of quite democratic elections have been held under the current Electoral Code, Azerbaijani Milli Majlis (Parliament) Vice Speaker said.
"Statements of several NGOs that the elections were undemocratic are wrong. All the elections held in Azerbaijan meet international standards", - Parliamentary deputy Speaker Bahar Muradova said.
MP Igbal Aghazadeh put forward a proposal for making additions and amendments to the Electoral Code in the next session of Parliament.
"The opposition offers a variety of additions and amendments to the Electoral Code. I think that necessary amendments should be made to the Electoral Code to hold democratic elections," - Umid Party Chairman Agazadeh said at the parliamentary meeting today.
According to him, electoral pledge for parties participating in elections, helps reduce the number of opposition candidates.
"It is necessary to make additions and amendments to the Electoral Code to eliminate these problems," Agazade said.
Azerbaijan will hold the parliamentary elections in early November.
