Azerbaijani President receives PACE president

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Mevlut Cavusoglu on Wednesday.

The Head of State congratulated Cavusoglu on his election as President of PACE. President Ilham Aliyev described the election of the Turkish representative as a fair decision.

He expressed hope that PACE would successfully discharge its duty during Cavusoglu's tenure.

The Azerbaijani leader praised the fact that Azerbaijan is one of the first countries to visit by Cavusoglu. He expressed assurance that the trip would contribute to expansion of PACE-Azerbaijan relationship.

Mevlut Cavusoglu thanked President Ilham Aliyev for Azerbaijan`s supporting his candidacy. The PACE President emphasized he had successfully cooperated with the Azerbaijani parliamentary delegation during many years.

The Azerbaijani leader and PACE President also shared their views on the current state of and prospects for Azerbaijan-PACE cooperation.
